Program Note
When I was given the opportunity to write a saxophone quartet, I knew I had to make it a funk tune. As primarily a classical player, I do have good training in jazz and blues. That coupled with being the bari player in quartets I’ve been a part of, that is what drove—quite literally, the motor for this piece. The work is dedicated to my three friends who helped derive the title after creating a randomized name for me through some online surveys, and who were all involved in band while we were growing up.
